Propane Education & Research Council Announces Revised Funding Review Schedule

    February 7, 2000

Washington, D.C., February 7, 2000-To improve its evaluation procedures for unsolicited grant requests, the Propane Education & Research Council announced that it is reducing the number of grant review cycles this year and next. The change was recommended by a comprehensive risk assessment undertaken late last year by the Council's legal and financial advisers.
'As the number of ongoing projects has increased, additional time is needed by the Council to properly evaluate the impact of completed projects as well as to conduct a more thorough analysis of projects proposed for funding,' said Roy Willis, president of the Council.

'In the past 18 months, the Council has approved more than 150 grants and state rebates. Yet, that approval is just the beginning of the funding projects; those projects must be evaluated to determine if they have achieved their goals and objectives,' added Willis. 'It is not possible to maintain a quarterly funding cycle and conduct those evaluations.'

This year, the Council will conduct funding reviews in March, June and December. In 2001, funding reviews will be conducted in June and December.
